Outcomes

By the end, you'll be able to

  • Find the best light on your face and turn towards it without being told
  • Hold standing and seated poses that look relaxed
  • Understand how camera height and lens change how you look, and ask for what you need
  • Reset between frames so expressions stay fresh
  • Take direction quickly and repeat a look on request
  • Choose the strongest images from a proof gallery for a specific purpose
  • Know what agencies usually ask for at the start, and what a test shoot is
  • Spot the warning signs of a bad deal, such as upfront fees for representation
Outline

The session

Four hours

  • Welcome, the plan, changing area and image consent
  • How the camera sees you: height, lens, distance and finding your light
  • Body and posture, standing and seated
  • Expression: eyes, breath and resetting
  • Break and outfit change
  • Shooting rounds on the cove with live coaching
  • Headshot round
  • Portfolios, digitals, test shoots and the warning signs
Safety and care

How the day is run

  • A private changing area, and two Granary staff present throughout
  • You are welcome to bring someone to watch
  • Retouching is natural: skin and stray hairs only, with no reshaping of faces or bodies
  • Granary uses no image from the session in its own marketing without your separate written opt-in
Who it's for

This is for you if

  • Adults building a first portfolio
  • Actors, performers and content creators
  • Anyone who dislikes every photo of themselves
Who it isn't for

Probably not, if

  • Under-18s, for now
  • Anyone expecting an introduction to a model agency. This is about confidence and images, not representation

Questions

Before you ask

Will this get me signed by an agency?

Nobody honest can promise that. The session covers what agencies usually ask for at the start and the warning signs of a bad deal, such as fees for representation.

What should I bring?

Two outfits, one plain and one of your choice, comfortable shoes and anything you need for hair and make-up.

When do I get my images?

After the session you get a proof gallery to choose from. You pick three, and we retouch those. Turnaround times come with the first dates.
